19th C. Japanese Lacquer Inro for your consideration. The inro measures approx. 3 1/4 inches tall, 3 1/2 inches wide and 1 5/8 inches deep. The string measures approx. 14 inches in length. Japan, Meiji period. Inro, Black-lacquer, Relief carved maple leaf (momiji) design on one side and a fern (shida) motif on the other side. Hand painted glass ojime bead with cat on one side and floral design on the other. Old salmon colored string. Excellent antique condition. Shows minor wear commensurate with age and use. Glass ojime is believed to be a later replacement. See photos. Displays and functions superb!
