English, early 20th Century. Sterling silver hallmarked: M&C – Marks & Cohen (Walter Henry Marks & Samuel Tobias Cohen), active out of Camden Street, Birmingham. Purity Mark: Lion Passant, .925 Sterling Silver purity, Town Mark: Anchor, Birmingham Assay Office, Date Letter: Lowercase l, Dating the piece precisely to 1910.

An exquisite and scarce Edwardian novelty table/cigar lighter in the iconic form of an Aladdin’s lamp (or “Lamp of Learning”). Crafted in solid sterling silver, this miniature piece features a classic gondola-shaped body flanked by two elegant, sweeping upward-scroll handles, all resting atop a trumpet pedestal base. Notably, this piece retains its original, detachable central wick holder, which is hallmarked as well.
