Antique Original Framed Engraving titled, “SOPHIA” after Michael William Peters for your consideration. The framed engraving measures approx. 18 1/4 inches X 18 3/4 inches and approx. 3/4 of an inch thick. Hand colored engraving depicts young maiden sitting in garden scenery holding a landscaping rake. She is sitting next to a picnic basket with several wine bottles, one bottle laying on its side, suggesting she has possibly gotten a head-start. The engraving is facsimile signed by artist “Michael William Peters” and engraved by “Ja. Hogg”. The engraving is encased in gold gilt wood frame and protected under original reverse painted glass. Excellent antique condition, ready to hang. Shows minor wear commensurate with age. Engraving has a very slight waviness. Not noticeable except under close examination. See photos.
