Rare & Original Antique Staffordshire Creamware Transfer Minstrel Musical Band Graduated Jug Set for your consideration. The largest pitcher measures approx. 8 1/4 inches tall and approx. 5 3/4 inches from spout to handle. The second largest pitcher measures approx. 7 1/8 inches tall and approx. 5 inches from spout to handle. The smallest pitcher measures approx. 6 1/4 inches tall and approx. 4 3/4 inches from spout to handle. Beech, Unwin & Co, Earthenware manufacturer at the Green Dock Works, New Street, Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, England c. 1870. Made for the American Market. All three pitchers are decorated the same with hand colored transfer scenes of minstrel band playing music. One side of each pitcher reads, “I WISH I WAS IN DIXAYS LAND” and the other side reads, “SALLY IS THE GIRL FOR ME”. Transferware decorated blue and orange draped stage curtains at top with twisted rope transfer decorated handle. English registry marks can be found under each handle. The three pitchers show wear commensurate with age and use. Handles on the smallest and largest pitchers have been restored fairly crudely at some point, with glue residue visible, but complete. In addition, further typical wear includes light soiling and age staining, minor crazing, slightly faded or uneven transfer print and/or other manufacturing imperfections, etc… See photos. These pitchers are very rarely available in the antique market and almost never seen in a three-pitcher graduated set. Intended for the serious collector. Displays important!
