Description
Pre-Columbian Style Zoomorphic Pottery Vessel Effigy for your consideration. The item measures approx. 5 5/8 inches tall and approx. 4 inches in diameter. Possibly Peruvian, Chimu civilization c. 900–1470 CE. Blackware Pottery. Zoomorphic rat-like figure on sphere. Hole on backside of piece; likely a musical instrument such as a whistle or rattle. The effigy does rattle when shaken and there is what appears to be a filled area on the back of the rodent figure that could have allowed whistled air out when blown. Very good displayable condition. Shows wear commensurate with age and use. See photos. Displays interesting!
