The painting measures approx. 8 1/8 inches X 11 1/2 inches. New England, mid 20th Century. Rhode Island artist, John Wilfred Dawson (1888-). Oil on board. Impressionism. Large green fishing boat docked alongside a fisherman working in a john boat. Coastal town of house across the water in the background. Signed, “John W. Dawson” in lower left corner by artist. Handwritten inscription on back reads, “Galiee-RI Fishing Boats. – Jerusalem in Distance / 1947 J. W. Dawson”. Painting is encased in decorative gold gilt gesso period frame.
