Description
Art Nouveau Red Lacquered Floral Box for your consideration. The box measures approx. 9 1/2 inches long, 7 1/4 inches wide and 3 3/4 inches tall. Japanese, first half 20th Century. Red lacquered wooden box. Design on top of lid depicts lidded vessel with tri-flower floral motif. Gold gilt Greek-key decorative border. Marked underside of lid, “MADE IN JAPAN”. Interior of box, black lacquer. Double hinged, gilt metal escutcheon. Very good antique condition. Shows wear commensurate with age and use. Hinges are a bit loose, yet still secure and functional. Inner decorative metal portion of escutcheon is missing, as well as the key. Box remains unlocked, fully functional. See photos. Displays lovely!
