Description
Doulton Lambeth Salt Glazed Stoneware Mug for your consideration. The mug measures approx. 4 inches tall and approx. 3 1/2 inches from rim to handle. Top diameter measures approx. 2 1/4 inches; base diameter approx. 2 1/4 inches. 19th Century; England. Salt glazed stoneware with stylized cobalt blue, white and brown floral motifs against tan colored ground. Applied handle with further cobalt decorative foliage design. Several marks on base including Doulton Lambeth mark (c.1880-1891), “1881”, “WOO”, a cross and two other illegible marks. Also initialed by artist, “LW” likely representing one of Louisa Wakely’s (1882-1910) earliest works. Overall, good antique condition. Shows wear commensurate with age. Restoration to top rim. Tight hairline to inside of mug from top rim down. See photos. Displays handsomely!
