Victorian Miniature Portrait Painting of Young Maiden for your consideration. The framed portrait measures approx. 3 3/8 inches X 4 3/8 inches. Continental, second half 19th Century. Oval, decorative gilt metal period frame, watercolor, under glass, old paper backing. Portrait painting depicts a beautiful young brunette with flowers adoring her hair, piercing golden-brown eyes and a subtle, innocent smile. She is wearing a lacy yellow dress with blue shawl covering her left shoulder and floral wreath draped over her chest. Portrait miniature is a tad risqué, as the yellow dress is a bit transparent and loosely fitted, falling slightly off her right shoulder, partially exposing the top of her right breast. The portrait painting is signed by the artist on the edge, “Garnier”. Very good antique condition. Shows minor wear commensurate with age. See photos. Displays elegant!
