Victorian French Silverplated Rooster Hatelet Skewer for your consideration. The skewer measures approx. 9 1/2 inches long, 1 1/2 inches wide and 5/8 of an inch thick. France, late 19th to early 20th Century. Molded silver figural male chicken skewer. Marked, “FRANCE” on skewer under the cock. Hatelets were used for the ornamentation of food, the cockerel most likely to be used with a chicken dish. Excellent antique condition. Shows wear commensurate with age and use. Skewer is not perfectly strait. Area on one side of skewer appears someone tested it for silver properties. A bit tarnished, natural patina. See photos. Displays superb!
