Description
Victorian French Silverplated Bovine Hatelet Skewer for your consideration. The skewer measures approx. 8 inches long, 1 3/4 inches wide and 1 inch thick. France, late 19th to early 20th Century. Molded silver figural male horned beef. Unmarked. Hatelets were used for the ornamentation of food, the bovine most likely to be used with a beef dish. Very good antique condition. Shows wear commensurate with age and use. One horn on beef head has portion missing. Not noticeable except under close examination and can be hidden when displayed. A bit tarnished, natural patina. See photos. Displays superb! Would make a great skewer for hors d’oeuvres or a unique swizzle stick for cocktails!
