Rare & Original Elkington & Co. Cranberry Glass Epergne Gilt Bronze Figural Centerpiece Vase for your consideration. The epergne measures approx. 17 3/4 inches tall overall and approx. 7 inches across the base. Mid 19th Century; England. A large figural gold- and silver-plated bronze plant stand with cranberry glass vase insert. The base and floral vines are in gold gilt while the bovine and equine figures are silvered. Marked on the underside, “Elkington & Co. April 1851”. There are also hallmarks that can be viewed in photos. 5 and 6. Excellent antique condition. Shows minor wear commensurate with age and use. Bolts on the horse could be tightened, a bit loose, yet secure. The cranberry glass insert is not original, but a nice replacement. See photos. Displays extraordinary, museum quality!
