Antique Stoneware Blue & White Banded Spongeware Mixing Bowl for your consideration. The bowl is a nice large size, measuring approx. 11 1/2 inches in diameter and 5 inches tall. The footed base measures approx. 5 1/8 inches in diameter. American, late 19th Century. Salt glazed. Cream colored interior. Blue sponged design against cream ground exterior. Double blue line bands; one towards the top and another towards the bottom. These bowls are rather rare to be found decorated with two bands, as this example exemplifies. Overall, good antique condition. Shows wear commensurate with age and use. Tight crack that descends from lip of bowl, measuring approx. 4 1/4 inches in length. A few minor hairlines & typical crazing. Chip to lip on one side that measures approx. 1 1/4 inches X 3/8 of an inch and 1/8 of an inch deep. Condition issues can be hidden while on display. A fine example of early Americana. See photos. Displays handsomely!
