Antique Royal Vienna Hand Painted Vase for your consideration. The vase measures approx. 8 1/4 inches tall and approx. 4 inches in diameter. Austrian, late 19th Century. Neoclassical design. Hand painted scenes of a man wrestling a bull and an older man with axe ready to perform a sacrifice. The vase is completely decorated, wrapping around to the other side, showing Greco Roman women with further offerings. Signed by the artist, “Sibb.”. Figural scenes are painted against cream ground with burgundy bands at top and bottom of vase. Heavily decorated with gold gilt leafy-vine and grape tendril motifs. Double gold gilt handles. Marked on base with underglazed cobalt beehive shield mark and titled, “Opferung”. Excellent antique condition. No chips or cracks. Shows minor wear commensurate with age. See photos.
