Very rare Ronson’s Art Metal Works Buddha bookends for your consideration. Each bookend measures approx. 6 inches tall, 5 1/2 inches wide and 3 7/8 inches deep. Hand painted “Sgraffito” line. Each bookend depicts a seated gilt Buddha dressed in blue robe. Each bookend is marked, “A.M.W. Newark N.J.” The last picture depicts catalog No. 320 from the Armor Bronze National Metalizing Company booklet housed in the Smithsonian Library. Either Art Metal Works sold patent rights to Armor Bronze or visa versa. Examples exist from both companies. Overall, good condition. Shows wear commensurate with age and use. One bookend has original felt fabric on bottom and the other has been stuffed with old newspaper. One bookend has small crack(s) to left knee, right arm and a restoration gilt touch-up to the right of the Buddha’s chin. The condition issues are not noticeable except under close examination. Displays and functions splendid! Scarce & Desirable!
