Rare, Antique Kutani-ware Mandarin Duck Figurine for your consideration. The duck figure measures approx. 5 inches long, 3 1/8 inches tall and 2 1/2 inches wide. Japanese, Kyoto. Meiji Period (1868-1912). Attributed to Ito Tozan (1846-1920). Satsuma pottery, finely hand painted, Mandarin duck in the Kutani style. Impressed signature on base by artist. Excellent antique condition. No chips or cracks. Shows minor wear commensurate with age. Possibly a professional restoration to inside of wings; faint brush strokes slightly inconsistent with glazed surface. Not noticeable except under very close examination. Light crazing throughout as typical with these wares. See photos. Displays intricate! Scarce!
