Rare & Unusual Antique Japanese Pottery Figural Mother & Baby Monkey Wax Seal for your consideration. The figural wax seal measures approx. 3 3/4 inches tall, 2 1/4 inches wide and 2 1/4 inches deep. Japan, Meiji Period. Figural unglazed pottery mother monkey comforting her baby, seated upon a glazed base. Japanese characters in green on one side of base and signed on lower back. Stamp on underside. Excellent antique condition. Shows minor wear commensurate with age and use. A minor fleck to bottom edge. See photos. Displays superb!
