Rare & Original Antique Parian Boy Climbing Tree, Porcelain Pitcher for your consideration. The pitcher is the largest size, measuring approx. 11 1/4 inches tall and 7 1/2 inches from spout to handle. English, Burslem, Staffordshire, mid-19th century. Parian, relief-moulded, salt-glazed jug. Finely executed raised scenes in Parian white against blue-barked tree. One side of pitcher depicts boy climbing tree to get to nest of chicks with mother bird flying overhead with worm in beak. The other side of the pitcher depicts the same boy sitting proudly on tree branch cradling the nest of baby birds in his right hand. Museum quality, wonderful detail. Marked on base with maker’s mark Coat of Arms, “T.J. & J. Mayers- Patent-Dale Hall Pottery Longport”, impressed marks, “No. 37” and “1” and English Registry mark which dates, July 2, 1850. Excellent antique condition. No chips or cracks. Shows minor wear commensurate with age. Minor soiling, near mint. See photos. Displays exquisite!
