Antique Japanese Satsuma Box for your consideration. The box is smaller in size, measuring approx. 1 3/16 inches tall and approx. 2 5/16 inches in diameter. Japan, latter part of the Meiji period (1868-1913). Kyo-Satsuma, Shimazu clan. Earthenware, elaborately hand decorated with gold gilt and enameling. Geishas and immortals depicted throughout, including eight geisha women on lid. Signature on base. Excellent antique condition. Shows minor wear commensurate with age and use. Crazing throughout, heavier in some areas than others. See photos. Displays impressive, a very fine example!
