Rare & Unusual Antique Chinoiserie Hand Painted Papier Mache Insects Vase for your consideration. The vase measures approx. 10 1/4 inches tall, 4 1/4 inches X 4 1/4 inches square base. Top of vase measures approx. 4 inches in diameter. England; mid 19th Century. Papier-mâché fluted neck, squared base and four-paneled form. Hand painted floral and insect motifs against yellow ground. Underside of base has old handwritten inscription dating this piece prior to c. 1849. Overall, good antique condition. Shows obvious wear commensurate with age and use. Chipping and missing areas of paint. Other condition issues include but are not limited to crazing, soiling, flaking, etc… See photos.
