Antique Alabaster Carving of Lady Carrying Bundle of Wheat by Adolfo Luchini for your consideration. The statue is a nice large size, measuring approx. 20 inches tall, 8 inches wide and 8 inches deep. Italian, late 19th Century. Wonderfully crafted alabaster carving of beautiful young maiden harvesting wheat. She is resting a bushel of wheat on her back, carried by a rope that she is holding with her right hand, while resting her left hand on her hip. She is barefoot, wearing a long, flowing dress with bodice loosely fastened at her bosom and sun bonnet covering her head. Signed by artist to the back, “A. Luchini”. Overall, good antique condition. Shows wear commensurate with age. Front brim of bonnet and left edge of dress are chipped. Secure crack at base. Condition issues are not overly noticeable and for the age and fragility of the piece, fairly expected. See photos. Displays stunning!
