Description
19th Century Japanese Imari Low Bowl and Plate for your consideration. The plate measures approx. 8 1/2 inches in diameter and approx. 1 inch tall. The bowl/dish measures approx. 6 inches in diameter and approx. 2 inches tall. Late Edo to early Meiji Period. Hand painted Imari designs with cobalt blue floral designs on the sides of each. The bowl has a sticker on the base that reads, “ANTIQUE” “A.D. 1850” “S/# 48934” “DECORATIVE PURPOSE ONLY NOT FOR TABLE USE” “JAPAN”. Overall, good antique condition. Shows wear commensurate with age and use. The plate is missing some of the red paint. Very small chip to rim of plate and a few manufacturing flaws on both. See photos. Displays elegantly.
