Description
After Francois George (1807-1873) Bronzed & Cold Painted Spelter Musician Caricature Figural Candlesticks for your consideration. Each candlestick measures approx. 11 inches tall and approx. 6 inches in diameter. The candle insert measures approx. 1 inch in diameter. The candlesticks date from the second half of the 19th Century. Spelter figures depict a man playing the violin and woman playing the guitar. Comical gestures of each with mouths wide open singing as they play the instruments. Gorgeous bronzed patina and cold painted vivid colors of orange, yellow, green and red. Signed on base of each, “F’cois George”. Very good antique condition. The man is missing a finger and restoration to another finger and neck of the violin. Not noticeable except under close examination. See photos. Displays extraordinary! Scarce!
