French, Napoleon III time period. Japonisme fashion. Scalloped clamshell formed tray with cut-out handle. Black lacquer with hand painted gold, silver and bronze floral decoration. Good antique condition. Shows wear commensurate with age and use. Missing crumb brush. Faint wear pattern to inside of tray where original brush would have likely rested for many years. See photos.
