Description
Rookwood Pottery Standard Glaze Ewer by Lenore Asbury for your consideration. The ewer measures approx. 10 1/2 inches tall and approx. 5 1/4 inches from spout to handle. Typical high gloss yellowish-brown glaze with hand painted cherry branch design by artist Lenore Asbury (1866-1933). Lenore was a decorator at Rookwood Pottery from 1894-1931. On the base of the ewer are multiple marks including the “RP” flame mark indicating this piece was created in 1897. Design mark “617C”. Lenore’s initials are also marked “LA”. Finally, a hand painted “X” mark. A handwritten sticker is included on the base that reads, “Signed LENORE ASBURY”. Overall, very good condition. There is a small restoration to the lip and a small glaze pop under the cherry. Crazing throughout. These imperfections are not noticeable except under close examination. See photos. Displays magnificent. A must for the Rookwood enthusiast!
