Description
Redware Jar with Two-Color Slip Decoration for your consideration. The jar measures approx. 10 inches tall; approx. 6 inches in diameter. First half 19th Century; likely North Eastern Origin, possibly New York State. Ovoid form with footed base and flared rim. Lead glazed surface decorated with stripes of brushed copper and manganese slip; applied over a mottled reddish brown ground. Very good condition. Shows wear commensurate with age and use. Three shallow chips to lip. Roughness and shallow chipping to base. Minor impact line towards base; measures approx. 2 inches long up side; 1 1/2 inches long across bottom of base. No lid.
