Description
Antique Dresden Bud Vase and/or Hat Pin Holder with Hand Painted Portrait of Young Greek Male for your consideration. The bud vase / hat pin holder measures approx. 6 1/4 inches tall, 2 1/4 inches wide and 1 7/8 inches deep. Hand painted portrait of young Greek male, possibly Alexander the Great. Side profile with dark hair; wearing red robe and chaplet on head. Heavily decorated gilding of floral and cartouche motifs against glossy maroon ground. Double gold gilt handles with further scrolling designs. Two small, manufactured holes at top lip for sticking pins. Marks on base include “Dresden” handwritten crown mark plus the number, “34927”. Overall, good antique condition. Shows wear commensurate with age and use. Small chip to back edge of base. Also on back is a pin sized dot that didn’t receive glaze during decorating in art studio. Not noticeable except under close examination. Chip is only visible when vase is turned backwards. See photos. Displays exquisitely!
