Antique Velvet Box for your consideration. The box measures approx. 5 1/4 inches tall, 5 1/4 inches wide and 4 inches deep. Continental, late 19th to early 20th century. Miniature dome shaped trunk covered in red and blue velvet. Decorative silk threading. Skeleton key with locking mechanism. Cartouche stylized swinging brass handle finial. Single brass hinge. Interior lined with beautiful floral embroidery. Very good antique condition. Shows wear commensurate with age and use. Box has to be pressed together firmly and locking mechanism must be lined up correctly to lock and unlock. Three replacement tacks in hinge leaves door a bit propped up when left unlocked. Decorative threading is a bit unraveled in a few areas. See photos. Displays charming!
