19th Century Persian Qajar Lacquered Paper Mache Pen Case (Qalamdan) for your consideration. The case measures approx. 9 inches long, 1 5/8 wide and 1 1/2 inches tall. Polychrome and gilt lacquer hand painted. Typical elongated slide out form. Sides and top decorated with sylvan landscape including figures paying homage to their lord with gifts. Base and inside of case is decorated with gilt cartouche motifs. Very good condition. Shows wear commensurate with age and use. End of case is chipped. Flaking and crazing throughout. See photos.
