Antique Framed Islamic Miniature Portrait Painting of Sultan Osman I for your consideration. The framed portrait painting measures approx. 5 inches X 7 1/4 inches and approx. 1/2 of an inch thick. Asian, 19th Century or earlier. Gouache. Hand painted portrait with floral border and Arabic writing at the bottom translated, “Sultan Osman, the first conqueror of the Ottoman Empire”. Osman I or Osman Ghazi (?-died 1323/4), was the founder of the Ottoman Empire. Painting is under glass and in original wood frame with wood panel backing. Metal loop for hanging on wall. Signed in pencil on back in what appears to read, “D. N. Kuci”. Very good antique condition. Shows wear commensurate with age. Some light staining. See photos. Displays important!
