Description
Antique Chinese Gilt Lacquered Centerpiece Bowl for your consideration. The bowl measures approx. 13 1/4 inches in diameter and approx. 3 1/2 inches tall. Qing Dynasty; 19th Century or possibly earlier. The bowl is constructed of ten wooden panels banded together with double stranded wires. Inside of bowl is skillfully decorated hand painted gilt lacquered motifs of koi fish, flying moth insects and floral arrangements. The foot of the bowl has been decorated with a solid band of red lacquer. Handwritten “14” mark on base of bowl, likely a museum or personal collection catalogued number. Very good antique condition. Shows wear commensurate with age and use. Wire is a bit of track in a few areas and panels have separated minorly. Bowl still remains intact and useful for display purposes only. See photos.
