19th Century Black Forest Capercaillie Fowl Double Inkwell Stamp Box Pen Rest for your consideration. The black forest desk item measures approx. 5 inches tall, 12 inches wide and 8 inches deep. Hand carved Black Forest covey of two Capercaillie fowl and floral design. The birds are the cover of a hinged lid stamp compartment. Double inkwells with milk glass inserts. Open pen rest tray with further hand carved floral decoration. Illegible writing on underside of base. Excellent condition; near mint. Shows minor wear commensurate with age and use. Natural patina. A few very minor nicks to leaves. See photos. Displays magnificently!
