One of a kind 19th Century Black Americana Folk Art box for your consideration. The box measures approx. 3 5/8 inches tall, 9 1/4 inches wide and 7 inches deep. The box is wood construction decorated with multicolored granules of bright yellows, greens, blues and reds. On the center of the lid is a cartes de visite (CDV) portrait of a young African American man. On the bottom right corner is the photographer’s mark that reads, “Weiser” “Knoxville”. The bottom and inside lining of the box is decorated with antique wallpaper. Double hinge with latch and key hole; no key. Shows wear commensurate with age and use. Wood framework is a bit chipped in a few areas, mainly in back. Overall, very nice antique condition. See photos. Displays awe-inspiring.
