Set of Four Medium Sized 19th Century Apothecary Blown in Mold (BIM) Label Under Glass (LUG) Glass Ground Stopper Bottles for your consideration. The descriptions of each are as follows:
1.) Measures approx. 10 1/4 inches tall with stopper; 9 inches without stopper, 3 1/2 inches wide and 3 1/4 inches deep.
LUG, “G. ACACIAE”. Paper label on back reads, “W.L. TIPTON & SON CORNER DRUG STORE NEVADA IOWA”. Embossed circular mark on base reads, “PAT’D MARCH 6TH 1894 F&S ST. LOUIS, MO.”. Glass stopper is stuck. A few minor flea bites to top of stopper.
2.) Measures approx. 10 1/4 inches tall with stopper; 8 7/8 inches without stopper; 3 1/4 inches base diameter.
LUG, “ASAFOETIDA”. A minor flea bite to rim and impact mark to insert of stopper.
3.) Measures approx. 9 1/4 inches tall with stopper; 8 inches without stopper; 2 7/8 inches base diameter.
LUG, “SYR. SIMPLEX”. Insert chipped.
4.) Measures approx. 9 1/4 inches tall with stopper; 8 inches without stopper; 2 7/8 inches base diameter.
LUG, “OL. MENTH.V.”.
The bottles show wear commensurate with age and use; being crude, have manufacturing flaws and imperfections. The glass is tented amethyst in color due to the manganese in the glass reacting to sunlight over many years. See photos. Displays elegantly!
